Here is a list of 19 of the most popular wedding venues south of Sydney covering everywhere from Berrima to Bawley Point. This part of Australia is fortunate to feature an incredible range of venues from wineries, beautiful gardens and secluded rock formations to stunning ocean-front locations.
Some of these I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed at, and others I’m excited to shoot at in the future. Having lived in the UK and recently made the move back to this gorgeous part of the world, I’m particularly excited to photograph the Australian landscape again and all of these locations feature it in their own unique way.
If you’ve any questions at all about any of these locations then contact me – I’m always keen to chat.

SOUTH COAST WEDDING VENUES
When we decided to move home to Australia from our stint travelling and shooting around the UK and Europe, it was honestly such an easy decision to move home to the South Coast. The area is blessed not just with stunning venues but with amazing beaches, surf, rugged coastline as well as great food and drink. If you’re considering getting married south of Sydney, the South Coast should be on your list of areas to view.
Merribee features a historic farmhouse, converted silo accommodation for up to 12 guests and enormous gardens. The venue is perfect for long-table outdoor dining and the styled barn makes for a great wet weather option and party hub.
This former dairy farm (from the 1800’s!) has been restored with a luxury fit out that sits perfectly alongside the original stone fencing, orchard and vintage silos. There are stunning outdoor locations for the ceremony with views for miles across the Kiama hinterland.
This little bushland winery along the far south coast features an industrial-style centre that contrasts against the rugged coastline. It’s great for weddings of up to 120 people and you get the entire venue for the weekend. It nails the modern vibe while embracing it’s country roots.
Terrara House feels like an entirely different world with it’s heritage home in the middle of the manicured Italian-style gardens. The whole site, from the tree-lined driveway to the gorgeous surrounds, makes an amazing backdrop for elegant, classic weddings.
Jaspers has one of my favourite ever ceremony locations set in the courtyard of the property and it gets the most beautiful afternoon light. There are so many great locations for portraits on-site including an ethereal woodland patch just outside the home.
This place is a little slice of rainforest along the Bewong River and is a world away from the South Coast that surrounds it. There’s accommodation on site for about 30 guests and the venue can seat around 100 guests for your party.
7. Willow Farm
This is one of those venues that you can just do so much with. It’s surrounded by fields of wild grass and has plenty of space for a luxury marquee as well as a converted shed that is great for bands and dance floors.
8. Mona Farm
Set a few minutes outside the stunning little town of Braidwood in-land from the Far South Coast, Mona Farm ticks all the boxes; modern, stylish, beautiful and with absolutely mind blowing landscape views.
KANGAROO VALLEY WEDDING VENUES
Nestled in between the South Coast and Southern Highlands is a pocket of Australia that is blessed with some of the most wild landscape, incredible gorges and amazing views. And each of these venues makes the most of these surroundings in their own way. Kangaroo Valley really is a special place.
After being tragically impacted by the 19/20 bushfires in the area, the venue has been restored and is back to its absolute best with genuinely unrivaled views across Kangaroo Valley. It also has the most unique ceremony location I’ve ever seen, set in amongst a stunning rock formation.
Another venue set in the heart of Kangaroo Valley, Melross has plenty of on-site accommodation and is surrounded by lavender, wildlife and amazing hills either side. With seating of up to 170, it’s perfect for bigger weddings.
Very few venues have such a luxurious feel while being set in such gorgeous wild surroundings. The venue has been designed to enjoy as much of the views as possible and the property features some amazing ceremony locations as well as plenty of room for marquees.
Set buried into the Kangaroo Valley bush, this small wedding venue is honestly just so aesthetic. If you’re a lover of wild natural spaces, then you’ve found the perfect place for your wedding. There are ceremony platforms with the most incredible views and the reception space is an ideal blank canvas.
If you’re looking for a Wedstival vibe, then you have to visit this venue in the middle of Kangaroo Valley. Although admittedly humble, the onsite accommodation means you can party into the evening and recover in the morning with all your guests.
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS WEDDING VENUES
Having lived and photographed weddings overseas around the UK and Europe, I can firmly say that we in NSW are lucky to have the Southern Highlands on our doorstep. The historic area is stunningly beautiful, the towns are amazing and have delicious food and coffee as well as plenty of vintage finds and the venues are all so unique and impressive.
With six different ceremony sites that are all absolutely stunning and an original-but-restored barn reception area, Mali Brae is perfect for a slightly rustic but modern celebration. It seats over 100 guests and is surrounded by beautiful scenery in all directions.
There isn’t much I could say about Bendooley that you don’t already know. Chances are, you’ve already been to a wedding at the gorgeous Book Barn. The grounds are immaculate and the sunset is amazing through the dry grass fields in the warmer months.
Nearby the Book Barn is Bendooley’s sister venue, The Stables. It has a modern, warehouse/industrial vibe and the glass wall not only offers stunning views but also bathes everyone in amazing light.
If ever there was a Southern Highlands venue that felt like you were in another country, Hopewood House is it. The heritage home and surrounding gardens make for a luxurious and classically stylish wedding day.
At Growwild you have the option of either a marquee or barn reception and you can enjoy canapes and drinks amongst the rows of beautiful flowers. It’s also amazing for a cozy winter wedding in the highlands.
I think my favourite thing about Montrose House are the wild ceremony locations and the outdoor bar, but honestly the entire venue is absolutely beautiful. And even better, it’s beautiful all year round.
For those that want a classic venue with some fine dining, Milton Park is definitely worth a view. It has manicured lawns and gardens surrounding an ivy-laden heritage mansion and looks just incredible in the autumn with it’s very own colour palette.
WHERE TO ELOPE SOUTH OF SYDNEY
If a big day isn’t your cup of tea and you fancy a more intimate declaration of vows, then the world is your oyster. Or in this case, everywhere south of Sydney is your oyster. We’re very lucky in Australia that we can exchange the legal vows pretty much anywhere you want – absolutely anywhere. And within a short drive of Sydney or Canberra, you can be in a magically little space to celebrate. If you want to keep it really tight knit, I’m even happy to be one of your witnesses.
